Rebellious children will take over the stage at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center this Saturday, as Children's Musical Theatre, Inc. will present Roald Dahl's "Matilda the Musical, Jr."
Featuring a cast of over 25 children, CMT's summer camp show is described as a "gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination." Starring Annabelle Kocher as "Matilda," the musical tells the story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have the audience rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the adults a lesson, according to the PAC's synopsis. In this rendition, Matilda has wit, intelligence and special powers by her side.
Annie Olivari will play the part of the loveable "Miss Honey," and Sophie Hodges will play the school's mean headmistress, "Agatha Trunchbull."
Online registration for CMT's 2022-2023 season will begin on July 30. The season begins on Aug. 15. Dance classes will also begin on that date. CMT offers performance-based classes for children in kindergarten through 18 years old. All classes are held at the Performing Arts Center. Visit cmtworkshop.org for more information.
