Flagler County’s unemployment rate remained at 4.4% in October, according to the latest data release from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. This is the second consecutive month that Flagler’s unemployment rate remained below the pre-pandemic low of 4.5% in February 2020.

“Flagler County continues to grow jobs, with 250 more residents finding work last month,” said Greg Blosé, President and CEO of the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also an encouraging sign to see the unemployment rate remain at a low 4.4%.”

Flagler County employment grew from 46,500 in September 2021 to 46,745 in October 2021, an increase of 245 jobs. Meanwhile, the labor force increased with 48,648 in September 2021 to 48,911 in October 2021, an increase of 263 Flagler County residents. The number of unemployed residents in Flagler County rose slightly from 2,148 in September 2021 to 2,166 in October 2021, an increase of 18 residents.

“We hope to see job growth continue as we head into the holiday shopping season. We encourage all Flagler County residents to shop our local businesses this holiday season,” Blosé said.
