The Matanzas Pirates (2-2) evened their season record by shutting down the Lake Howell Silver Hawks 38-3 on Friday, Oct. 9, at Matanzas High School.
Senior quarterback Ethan Dattilio threw touchdown passes to Dakwon Evans, Noah Cundiff and Aaron Roberson, who also scored on a 15-yard run. Kicker Stephen Usina converted all extra points and added a 32-yard field goal for offense.
On defense, freshman Sho'Marion Gaines intercepted a pass to stop Lake Howell's first drive. Linebacker Rex Robich finished with a sack and a touchdown off a punt return from a botched punt. Other Pirates forced fumbles and recorded several more sacks to dominate Lake Howell's offense.
Matanzas will host St. Augustine next week on Friday, Oct. 16, at Matanzas.
