4:17 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. An Edgewater man said "Oops" during a phone call with police were he admitted to shoplifting over $100 of merchandise from a local clothing store. He told the officer he felt bad and agreed to come into the station to complete a statement, but never showed up.
The man was seen by another store's employee running out of the clothing store with a shopping cart, getting in his vehicle and driving away. Surveillance video from the store showed the man and a woman placing items into the shopping cart. The woman left the store first, and the man appeared to be waiting for the manager to be distracted before running outside, according to the police report.
Police were able to identify the couple after New Smyrna Beach police notified that they had an incident with the same couple at store in their jurisdiction. The man was later taken to jail for other crimes.
12:37 a.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Resisting an officer without violence. While responding to a call about a person causing a scene at a local bus stop, an officer also encountered another man sleeping partially inside a bush. He discovered the man had a trespass warning from the location, and saw that he had a bottle of vodka nearby. The man had drank most of it, the officer noted.
He asked the man to gather his things and sit on the curb while he investigated the incident, according to the arrest report. As he sat on the curb, the man began drinking the rest of the vodka. The officer asked that he hand him the bottle, but the man refused. Police restrained him, during which the man resisted their efforts, the report states.
The officer asked him why he opened the vodka, and the man said that he was going to jail anyway and didn't want to waste the alcohol. The person whom the officer was originally called to investigate was sober enough that the officer issued him a trespass warning.
8:09 p.m. — 1600 block of North U.S. 1
Disorderly intoxication. A Palm Coast woman told police that she was asked by the Flagler County sheriff to prevent the sale of methamphetamine by posing as an intoxicated individual in a local gas station.
Police were called after the woman kept harassing customers at the gas station and was told to leave, according to her arrest report. The responding officer witnessed her yelling at a family in the parking lot, accusing them of coming to pick up methamphetamine. The woman was holding an open Bud Light Lime "Straw-ber-rita," the officer noted.
She was trespassed and arrested.
