A 16-year-old student who posted a school shooting threat for Mainland High School on social media was arrested Daytona Beach Police, the agency reported on Friday, Feb. 14.

The threat said that Thursday's firecracker incident was a "test to see how long it took the police to arrive," and that the shooter was going to copy the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland that killed 17 people in 2018. Feb. 14 marks the second anniversary of the tragedy. The student was a freshman at Mainland.

DBPD said it would have a strong presence around Mainland on Friday "as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of everyone on campus."

This is a developing story.
