Chabad Palm Coast hosted the fifth-annual Chanukah celebration with a grand Menorah lighting ceremony on Monday, Dec. 14, at the European Village.
The community gathered to enjoy activities, latkes and individually wrapped doughnuts. At 6 p.m., Rabbi Levi Ezagui led the ceremony of The Festival of Lights, rejoicing in the blessing of "celebrating openly — bringing more light into the world."
Sheriff Rick Staly shared some of his experiences with the community; his mother was a social worker many years ago for the Jewish Department of Children and Family Services in Jacksonville.
"Chanukah has come to represent the victory of right over might, light over darkness, and freedom over oppression," Staly said.
Mayor Millisa Holland shared her thoughts and initiated the Menorah Lighting.
Rabbi Ezagui thanked the Krayter family, his wife, the Hebrew school, and all who attended, sponsored and participated in the celebration.
