7:28 p.m. — 70 Block of Golden Gate Circle
Illegal possession of dairy crate. Police were called out to a local residence in regards to a battery and ended up arresting a 41-year-old woman after she was found in possession of a dairy crate from Dean Foods. The woman also had an open warrant out of Alabama, according to the report.
After the battery situation was taken care of and a refusal to prosecute was signed, the property owner asked police to have the woman staying in his shed removed. He told police she had been there for 3-4 days and he wanted her to leave because she was using foul language towards him, according to the report.
The woman was arrested and taken to jail. She was additionally charged with resisting an officer without violence for failing to comply with the officer after they took her into custody.
11:19 a.m. — 1600 Block of Taylor Road
Illegal possession of shopping chart. While on routine patrol an officer noticed a 65-year-old man pushing a shopping cart down Taylor Road. The man told police he picked it up from a local retail store and was pushing it to the grocery store so he could pick up garlic, according to the report.
The shopping cart was filled with the man’s belongings and multiple pieces of trash that he told police he picked up along the way. The man also had an open warrant in Indiana, according to the report.
The man was arrested and taken to jail.
12:35 p.m. — 1700 Block of Dunlawton Avenue
Petit theft, second offense. Police were called out to a local retail store when loss prevention noticed a 27-year-old woman concealing items in a plastic bag she brought into the store. The woman walked through the store putting clothing, hygiene items, sunglasses, and electronics into the bag. She then passed the registers, without paying, and left the store, according to the report.
The woman told police she went to the same retail store in Daytona where she purchased two bags of candy, and had the receipt as proof, which is where the bag she brought into the store in Port Orange came from, according to the report. She also admitted to stealing the merchandise with no intention of paying for it.
The woman was arrested and taken to jail as she had one prior conviction for retail theft and a failure to appear in 2016.
11:08 a.m. — 4600 Block of Clyde Morris Boulevard
Trespass after warning. A local church called police when a 56-year-old woman who had previously been trespassed from the property arrived again. When police showed up the woman was screaming, but not at anyone in particular from what police could see, according to the report.
The woman was asked to grab her belongings and leave, instead, she turned and quickly walked away, leaving her bags behind. She ignored police and yelled at random people as they passed, according to the report.
The woman was arrested and taken into custody due to a failure to appear in January. An hour later, when police searched through her personal belongings at the police department, they found a white rock like substance; it tested positive for crack cocaine. She was additionally charged with possession of cocaine and transported to jail with a bond of $3,000.
