Miami woman dies after Granada Boulevard car crash

Five people were transported to the hospital after a Palatka man ran a red light, according to the crash report.

A 24-year-old Miami woman has died from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle car crash at the intersection of West Granada Boulevard and I-95 on Friday, March 8, Ormond Beach Police report.

The woman, Sarah Ellen Ross, was one of five people transported to the hospital after the crash. She died a short time after arriving at Halifax Health.

Officers responded to the scene around 12:18 p.m., and the crash involved a silver Buick LaCrosse, a black Honda Civic and a white Ford van. According to witness testimony in the crash report, the driver of the Buick LaCrosse, an 80-year-old Palatka man, was driving east on West Granada Boulevard, and ran a red light at the intersection of the I-95 southbound entrance ramp. He collided into the Honda Civic, who had a green turn arrow to turn onto the I-95 southbound ramp. 

The Ford van was directly behind the Honda Civic, and hit the Buick LaCrosse in the driver side front fender in the crash. 

The Buick LaCrosse's driver is expected to be okay. The driver of the Ford van was released from the hospital later that afternoon. The front seat passenger of the Honda Civic is currently in serious but stable condition. 

A full traffic homicide investigation is underway.
