1:16 p.m. — First block of Dunlawton Avenue
Location of vehicle used for human occupancy. A 44-year-old woman was issued a parking citation after police found her sleeping in her underwear inside her van in a local park. Police report the woman was parked in a trailer-only spot, and told she could pay the fine, or contest it, for using a vehicle for human occupancy on city property.
The officer reported the woman had curtains set up around the windows and the van had items such as clothing, food, water, cleaning supplies and a sleeping bag. The woman told police she was living out of her van while trying to move to the Daytona Beach area, according to the report. She was released with a notice to appear for the fine.
8:40 a.m. — 300 block of South Nova Road
Petit theft. A 28-year-old man tried to steal a hat from a local department store by placing it under a hat he was wearing, police report. Loss prevention saw him place the hat, valued at $26, under his, and then going into a fitting room with a pair of shorts. He left the fitting room without the shorts.
The man proceeded to exit the store without making any attempt to purchase the items, according to the report. He was stopped by loss prevention in the parking lot and returned the hat after loss prevention identified themselves. The man was arrested, and told the officer he took the items without paying because he made a "stupid mistake." The report state the hat's tag and plastic hook were found in his right back pocket while he was searched.
The man was trespassed from the store and released on scene with a notice to appear due to his lack of criminal history.
9:32 p.m. — 1700 block of Dunlawton Ave.
Resist officer without violence. Shortly after two women entered a local store and committed retail theft, police found one of them hiding in the bushes, according to a report. The 43-year-old woman was then asked to show her hands, but she got up and ran in the opposite direction of the officer. She had been identified by police since she left her ID in her purse, which she left at the store during the incident.
The officer chased the woman on foot and ordered her to stop. He was close enough to grab her and bring her to the ground. She was placed in handcuffs and searched for weapons.
According to the report, the woman continued to pull away and thrash around. She was restrained and taken to jail.
