Nine-year-old Jamel Guerrero could feel the nerves as the seconds ticked off the clock. With defenders barreling toward him, Guerrero spun around, hoisted up a shot and watched as the ball tracked on line toward the basket.
The buzzer sounded, and the ball fell through the hoop for the game winner.
“I was happy that my team won,” said Guerrero, who has been attending the camp since he was 4, “because this camp means a lot to me.”
"I'm awlays going to proud of Jamel. I'm always going to try to critique his game. But just to see him out there having fun is the main thing."

Flagler Palm Coast girls basketball coach Javier Bevacqua hosted the 10th-annual Coach Bevacqua’s Co-Ed Basketball Camp from Monday, June 3, to Friday, June 7, at FPC High School.
The campers, 85 kids from first to sixth grade, learned basketball fundamentals, including: jump shooting, ball handling, defense, passing and more. They rotated across each of the stations each day of the camp, culminating in an AAU-style tournament on the last day of the camp.
“Today was amazing. The kids loved it,” Bevacqua said. “They get to see what it’s like to play on a high school floor.”
