3:07 p.m. — 1500 Block of Dunlawton Avenue

Grand theft. A 31-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting at a local home improvement store after she and another man were observed selecting store items and placing them into her purse. The total value of stolen merchandise was just under $700.

Both the woman and the man she was with were trespassed from the store and placed under arrest for grand theft. They were both transported to jail.

8:06 p.m. — 4000 Block of Halifax Drive

Possession of ammo by a convicted felon. During a trespassing arrest, a 53-year-old man was ultimately arrested for being in possession of ammunition; according to a criminal history check, he is a convicted felon. He also had narcotic paraphernalia with him; he told police he wanted to take it to jail with him, according the police report. 

Small pieces of rolled up Chore Boy, a brand name scouring pad that is typically used to retain cocaine vapors, small pieces of cotton, a small silver wrapper, and aluminum tabs from a drink can were found located in a lanyard worn around the man's neck, according to the report. 

Three rounds of 28-gauge ammunition were found within the man's reusable grocery store bags along with more Chore Boy. 

The man was arrested and taken to jail with a bond of $3,000. 

Lit cigarettes

9:03 p.m. — Intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Church Street

Throwing lit substance on ground. After police were sent out to the intersection to check on an intoxicated man, the 61-year-old attempted to walk away; however, he was stumbling, smelled like alcoholic beverages, and had watery, blood shot eyes, according to the report. 

While police spoke with the man, he threw a lit cigarette on the ground, asked to pick it up, and advised he could be arrested for throwing a lit substance onto the ground, according to the report. 

Police then called a taxi for the man and while waiting he lit another cigarette and threw it on the ground when he was done. The man was arrested and transported to jail.
