The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Florida Sheriff’s Association Statewide Task Force's ‘Operation Knot Lit’ from July 3-7, which focused on maintaining the safety of roads and waterways in the state during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The FCSO Community Policing Division had an increased countywide presence and DUI enforcement in Palm Coast, Bunnell and Flagler Beach. FCSO responded to a total of 1,699 calls for service during this time, resulting in a total of 43 arrests, seven of which were for driving while intoxicated. Deputies also conducted 370 traffic stops.

The FCSO Marine units patrolled Intracoastal Waterways throughout Flagler County in a joint effort with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to promote boater safety and to deter boating under the influence. This resulted in four vessel stops — but no arrests.

“Thankfully, the majority of our residents and visitors enjoyed a safe holiday and kept their freedom," Sheriff Rick Staly said. "Our deputies were prepared and vigilant on land and in the water, and they did a great job making sure everyone stayed safe.”
