A gas burn off is currently underway at the site of the upcoming Starbucks location at 125 E. Granada Blvd., to eliminate the contents of an abandoned liquid propane tank found buried in the back parking lot during construction.

Contractor Atlantic Gas Service will be conducting the process at the beachside construction site. Ormond Beach Fire Chief Richard Sievers said the burn will likely last several days, during which the public could see a flame of about 10 feet tall. There is no exact timeframe for the burn because the age of the tank and the amount of gas inside it are unknown.

Once the liquid propane is gone, the tank will be removed from the site.
