Palm Coast man killed, passenger critically injured in motorcycle crash on Belle Terre Parkway and Ponce DeLeon Drive

Travis Stewart, 56, died at the scene from injuries sustained during the crash.

A Palm Coast man riding a motorcycle was killed, and his passenger critically injured, after crashing into a pick-up truck on the night of Sunday, Aug. 25, according to a release by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Joseph Scarpone, 71, of Palm Coast, was driving a 2015 green Dodge Ram truck south on Belle Terre Parkway and Ponce DeLeon Drive with Mary Scarpone, 67, at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Joseph Scarpone made a left turn. He turned into the path of Travis Stewart, 56, of Palm Coast, who was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Belle Terre Parkway with a 53-year-old passenger.

The vehicles crashed into one another, and Stewart and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.

Stewart died at the scene from injuries sustained during the crash. His passenger, who has not yet been identified, was taken to UF Health in Jacksonville.

Neither of the Scarpones were injured. 

Charges are currently pending against Joseph Scarpone.
