ArtHaus displays artwork from Volusia Art Educators

Details: ArtHaus is displaying artwork in a variety of media created by art teachers from local schools.
Port Orange Democratic Club welcomes Nancy Soderberg
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: First Presbyterian Church, 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd.
Details: There will be a social half hour with light refreshments from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Nancy Soderberg, democratic nominee for Florida’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives will speak.
Alzheimer’s expert to speak at the Port Orange library
When: 10 to 11 a.m.
Where: Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle
Details: Damarys Melendez, of the Alzheimer’s Association, will discuss research in the areas of diet, nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and provide hands-on tools to incorporate the recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.
A Creative Happiness Institute Halloween Party
When: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: Thank You Five Theater, 4606 Clyde Morris Blvd.
Details: Prizes include $50 for best open mic performance, $100 and $50 for best slam poetry and $50 for the best costume. All styles of music and stage performance are welcome. Admission is $5.
Halloween Extravaganza

Where: Port Orange United Church of Christ, 832 Pine Forest Trail West
Details: Monetary and canned food donations will be accepted by the church for Spruce Creek Elementary students. Jimmy Hart, “The Mouth of the South” and WWE Hall of Fame legend, will perform.
3rd Annual HalloWOOF Pet Costume Contest and Pet Parade
When: 10:00 a.m.
Where: All Aboard Flea & Farmers Market, 5005 S. Ridgewood Ave.
Details: Free to enter and win a grand orize sponsored by Dogtona Beach Pet Resort.
7th Annual Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon and 5K
When: Half marathon begins at 7 a.m.; 5K begins at 10 a.m.
Where: D.J.’s Dek, 79 Dunlawton Ave.
Details: Halifax Health announced the dates for its 2018 Live Your Life Well Race Series in partnership with the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA. The series consists of 20 distinct events that will take place throughout 2018. Upcoming races include the Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon and 5K in Port Orange.
Port Orange Halloween Fest
When: 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Where: City Center Complex, 1000 City Center Circle
Details: The event will include a large Trunk or Treat Community Expo, Haunted House, costume contests for the kids, pumpkin games, a petting zoo, food trucks and more.
