Home but hiding

7:34 p.m. — First block of Pebble Beach Drive

Resisting officer without violence. A 34-year-old Ormond Beach man hid in a closet from police when they arrived at his home to respond to a call about a CPR in progress on the man's girlfriend, who was believed to be overdosing. A relative of his was talking to the officers when police spotted the man peeking through a cracked door on the other side of the home, police report.

He was then found hiding in a closet with the lights turned off. When asked who he was, he gave officers a false name. Police officers found out he was lying after they found his ID card in his girlfriend's room.

The man had an open warrant for violating his probation. He told officers he lied because he wanted to go to the hospital to see his girlfriend. He was taken to jail.

Petit theft. Police arrested a 42-year-old Daytona Beach woman after she stole over $130 worth of clothes from a local retailer. All the while, she was also seen "huffing" duster aerosol cans — police found she had six cans.

According to a report, the woman walked around the store placing clothing items in a large black purse, before being confronted at the front door by the store's loss prevention agent. Items stolen included two jackets and leggings. When an officer asked why she was stealing the clothes, the woman said that she was cold.

As for the huffing of the duster cans, the woman said she had food in her mouth. She was taken to jail.

Aggravated assault. A 32-year-old man became aggressive with his sister after she informed him that his dog, Baby, had pooped all over the back room, and, that she wanted him to clean it up. He had just told her to leave him alone because he hadn't had his coffee yet, police report.

The argument escalated when his sister told him she was going to call the police. She told officers that he then "ripped the cord out of the phone" and picked up a ceramic angel statue with the intention of throwing it at her, but, threw it to the ground instead, breaking one of the angel's wings. His sister also told police that at one point, he took off his shirt and told her "I'll beat you like a man."

He also grabbed a knife and stabbed the kitchen block while threatening to kill her. Her brother told police a different story; he said his sister was going through withdrawals and was hysterically screaming at him about his dog. He said she threatened to have her boyfriend come over and beat him up.

Due to witness testimony, the damaged angel statue, phone and knife stuck on the block, police arrested the man and took him to jail.
