On Nov. 11, residents can get a haircut and help a veteran.

For the sixth consecutive year, two Great Clips locations in Port Orange will participate in a nationwide veterans Thank A Veteran Initiative.

All non-veteran customers who get a service at the Port Orange Great Clips salons will receive a free haircut card to gift to a veteran.

Veterans and active service members will get a free haircut or a free haircut card to use between Nov. 12 and Dec. 31 with accompanying proof of service.

In 2016, Great Clips salons gave 242,00 free haircuts to veterans through the initiative. Franchise owner Paul Harris said the event also is successful in Port Orange and at locations in Ormond Beach, Edgewater and Palm Coast, which also will participate in the initiative this year.
