The following was a press release sent out by Jason Wheeler, Flagler Schools community information specialist

Superintendent James Tager announced LaShakia Moore will become the third principal in the history of Rymfire Elementary School, according to a news release on May 30. She replaces Barbara Sauvelpahkick, who retires June 15.

On making this decision, Tager said, “LaShakia Moore is a dynamic instructional leader and brings a depth of curriculum, and exceptional student education knowledge. She has the interpersonal skills to take this next step in her career.”

Moore is a 2004 graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in exceptional student education. She earned a Master of Science in educational leadership from Saint Leo University in 2017.

LaShakia Moore began teaching at Rymfire Elementary in 2004, later becoming a teacher support colleague. In 2017, she transitioned to the Flagler Schools District Office as a curriculum specialist.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to return to the school from where I spent so many great years,” Moore said. “Barbara Sauvelpahkick did a great job in assembling a team of educators there and I look forward to reconnecting with the Roadrunner family. I encourage parents, teachers, and staff to stop by throughout the summer.”

Moore’s first day will be June 18.
