Alpha Kappa Alpha and A WISH Inc. award scholarships to local students

Nine $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Volusia County students.

In June, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Gamma Mu Omega Chapter and its affiliate, A WISH Inc., awarded nine $1,000 scholarships to Volusia County students. 

Chartered on December 13, 1941, the Gamma Mu Omega Chapter has been involved in projects that promote youth educational excellence and has presented programs such as Men of Tomorrow, the Debutante Cotillion and Accent on Youth.

Students awarded scholarships include: 

  • Christina Collins, Mainland High School
  • Assil Ei-Ghali, Spruce Creek High School
  • Payten Ford, Mainland High School
  • Amaya Gattis, Mainland High School
  • Adrian Rivers, Mainland High School
  • Andrea Rone, New Smyrna Beach High School
  • Sydney Snowden, Seabreeze High School
  • Kya Williams, Spruce Creek High School
  • O'Dregon Smith, Mainland High School
