Pedestrian killed crossing Granada

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A man died Saturday night while crossing Granada Boulevard after he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. 

The Ormond Beach Police Department reported that 39-year-old Keith Hoskinson crossed in front of a Toyota Corolla in the 1600 block of West Granada Boulevard around 9:22 p.m. The traffic crash report stated the 60-year-old driver of the vehicle was heading eastbound at about 35 mph. The posted speed limit is 45. 

The report cited low visibility as the circumstances for the crash. Hoskinson, a transient, was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police report. Two other pedestrians were killed in December of 2017 after being struck by cars.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities caused by car crashes increased by 8% between 2015-2016.
