Five sixth-graders at Rymfire Elementary choreographed their own halftime routine to perform during an adult versus student basketball game as a reward for good behavior.
Dance Teacher Eileen Curran said students are encouraged to do well through the school's Positive Behavior Support program.
"The kids that are out there are the ones that have not gotten a referral, they get good grades, they really are working hard and this is their reward," Curran said.
While the sixth-graders rocked the halftime show with cheerleading stunts, tumbling and some dance moves, younger roadrunners performed a gymnastic dance routine for a pre-game show.
"I really love this job," Curran said. "This is my dream job; I always wanted to do this. I'll be retiring soon, so it's a little bittersweet because the kids are special to me."
Adults at Rymfire Elementary, including Coach Rob Cerasi and well-known volunteer St. Clair Kennedy, were pitted against sixth-graders for the basketball game. The adults won 50-43.
