Senator Dorothy L. Hukill’s bill allowing businesses the option of filing their annual report every two years, instead of every year, passed its first Senate Committee with unanimous support.

SB 1228, also known as Annual Business Organization Reports and Fees, is "designed to reduce unnecessary regulation and expense," as well as provide more convenience by giving businesses the option to file their report every other year. Currently, corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, general partnerships and limited liability partnerships are all required to file their reports annually, according to a press release from the senator's office.

“This is a business friendly bill that will ease one of the constraints businesses currently face,” Hukill said in a press release. “By being able to file their reports biennially, we will see a reduction in missed deadlines. That means fewer late fees that our businesses will have to pay.”
