It's that time of year again when the Firefighters Chili Cook-off is held. The community is invited to come out from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 from to taste different chilis from the hottest of the hot, to the hearty and mild before voting on a favorite.

There will also be fun crafts for children as well as firefighter truck displays, a truck pull contest, drink specials and live music from Megan Stuart. This annual fundraiser benefits the Professional Firefighters Association Fund and takes place at The Original First Turn, 5236 S Ridgewood Ave.

Children's yoga classes to be held at YMCA

Children can join Yogi Judy for a free class to learn yoga. A class for children ages 3 through 7 years old will focus on building strength, balance and concentration. A second class for children ages 8 through 14 years old will help students discover self-confidence, positive body health and awareness, emotional balance and tools for stress management. 

The classes will take place at 5:30 p.m. for children 3 to 7 years old and 6 p.m. for children 8 to 14 years old on Tuesday, April 17, at the Port Orange Family YMCA Healthy Living Center, 4701 City Center Parkway.

Travel budget class to be offered at library 

With years of experience in the travel industry and planning travel experiences for large groups, local travel agent Lauren Morris will explain how to stick to a budget while traveling, without sacrificing experiences. The "How to Travel on a Budget" class will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.

Lakeside Jazz Festival coming to Port Orange

The Lakeside Jazz Festival is back to help educate about jazz and bring attention to middle and high school jazz bands. The festival also includes an active involvement from colleges, universities and military entities which are interested in recruiting fine jazz performers. This festival creates designated funding to provide music and leadership summer camp scholarships to festival-sponsoring school participants. This free cultural event is open to the public.

The festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from Friday, April 20, to Saturday, April 21, at City Center, 1000 City Center Cir.

Paddleboarding to event to help entrepreneurs 

Individuals can paddle, relax or volunteer to support local and global job creation programs. This event will help entrepreneurs create dignified work for those who need it most.

The event will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Riverwalk Park, 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave.
