What started out as three roommates watching a televised football game turned into one roommate allegedly attempting to assault another roommate with a machete, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffrey Ticich said he and his roommates, Marc Pritchett and Ian Roberts, were watching a football game on TV at their home, located at 17 Radcliffe Drive in Palm Coast, when he asked Pritchett how long he had before his 30-day driver’s license was suspended for his second DUI, sparking a confrontation.

Ticich, 50, said he then went into his room, locked the door and called his friend Thomas Raccuglia. Ticich told deputies that Pritchett, 46, unlocked the door and started swinging a machete at him

Ticich told deputies that Pritchett said he was going to “kill him,” according to the affidavit.

Raccuglia, who was on the phone with Ticich at the time of the incident, said it was hard to hear anything Pritchett was saying, but he did hear Pritchett say “kill.”

When questioned by deputies, Pritchett said he was being threatened by Ticich throughout the night. Pritchett said he never swung the machete at Ticich or made any threats toward him.

Deputies asked Pritchett several times where the machete was, but he failed to give a clear answer. Pritchett later disclosed that the machete was placed in the attic.

Deputies observed that Pritchett's breath had the odor of an alcoholic beverage and that his speech was slurred. Pritchett confirmed he had been drinking vodka and soda.

Deputies attempted to get information from Roberts, but Roberts, struggling to stand or speak, was too intoxicated.

Pritchett was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
