Three Ormond Beach races are headed to the August primary election, as all candidates have qualified.

As the mayoral, Zone 1 and Zone 4 City Commission races each have three or more candidates, Ormond Beach voters will head to the polls on Aug. 18, to have a say in who they would like to represent them on the dais for the upcoming two-year term. If none of the candidates earn 50% of the vote plus one, the top two will head to a runoff in the general election on Nov. 3.

Here is who is running for those three races.

Ormond Beach Mayor

Incumbent Mayor Jason Leslie is vying for a second term. Leslie filed for reelection on March 27, after withdrawing from the Florida House District 29 race.

A resident of Ormond for over five years, Leslie owns commercial real estate and has an e-commerce business.

Incumbent Deputy Mayor and Zone 1 City Commissioner Lori Tolland filed to run for mayor in October of last year.

Tolland has served on the City Commission since 2022. She is a retired registered nurse and prior to her election, she served on the city's Planning Board and Leisure Services Advisory Board. She has lived in the city since 1989.

The mayoral race is also seeing two new faces.

Damien Curry filed to run on Feb. 13. A 26-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, Curry is the owner of Garden Boys Landscaping and a Volusia County lifeguard.

He has lived in Ormond Beach since 2024. This is his first time running for political office.

George Doran filed to run on April 10. He is a deputy chief at the Cross Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Alachua County.

A former member of the U.S. Army National Guard, he moved to Ormond about three years ago. He previously served for four years on the Julington Creek Plantation Community Development District Board of Supervisors, an elected position in St. John's County.

Zone 1 City Commission

The Zone 1 City Commission seat is open, as incumbent Lori Tolland is running for mayor.

The first candidate to file for the seat was Coleen McMahon, a registered nurse. She filed in August of last year.

McMahon moved to Ormond Beach in 2023. She also lived in town from 2000-2006 and holds a broker license. This is her first time running for political office.

Melissa Burt DeVriese, president of local company Security First Insurance, filed to run in October 2025. A native of Ormond Beach, DeVriese has worked for Security First since 2009.

She became president in 2020. DeVriese has served on a number of local nonprofit and business group boards. She is currently on the board of Easterseals Florida. This is also her first time running for office.

Alan Burton, who owns real estate appraisal company Burton Valuation, filed to run on Jan. 23. A resident of Ormond since 1996, Burton is a past director of Leisure Services for the city.

He served as a supervisor for the Volusia Soil & Water Conservation District, an elected position, from 2014-2016.

Incumbent Zone 4 City Commissioner Harold Briley filed to run for reelection on March 3. He was first elected in 2022.

Briley was born and raised in Ormond Beach. Prior to his election, he had served on advisory boards for almost 30 years, including the Ormond Beach Planning Board, on which he served a total of 21 years. He is a real estate agent with Realty Pros Assured.

Former Planning Board member Barry du Moulin filed to run on Jan. 22. A retired inspector for the U.S. Coast Guard, this is his second time running to represent Zone 4 on the commission; he previously ran in 2018.

He currently serves on the city's Municipal Firefighters' Pension Trust Fund advisory board and has lived in Ormond Beach since 2016.

The third candidate running for Zone 4 is Amber Bobak, a recently appointed Planning Board member. Bobak filed to run on May 7.

A resident of Ormond Beach since she was 12, Bobak works for Cains Electric as a front desk office administrator.

Races in the general election

The remaining two races for Ormond Beach City Commission — Zones 2 and 3 — will be decided in the general election in November as they only have two candidates.

Running for Zone 2 are incumbent Travis Sargent and challenger Jennifer Bright.

Sargent filed for reelection on Feb. 23. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years and currently is employed by Foundation Risk Partners. He has served on the commission since 2022.

Bright filed to run in June 2025. She is a retired financial data analyst. Bright has lived in Ormond Beach since 2021. This is her first time running for local office.

In Zone 3, incumbent City Commissioner Kristin Deaton is running against recent challenger Ted Rhodes.

Deaton filed for reelection on Jan 12. She was first elected in 2024. A sales manager and mortgage loan originator at Guild Mortgage, Deaton is a lifelong Ormond Beach resident. She has been involved in several community nonprofit and initiatives, including Women United. She currently serves on the Crime Stoppers board.
