The roar of the crowd more than made up for the silence of the engineless soap-box derby cars in the parking lot at
Pathways Elementary on Friday, May 12.

The Winners are

DRIFT RACE - Future Cars

First: Crash Test Dummies, Tyler Bogdanowicz and Tiden Burch. Second: Rasta Racers, Cadence Haley and Anabella Torres. Third: The Chargers, Alezxander Robles and Cassidy Robles.

DRIFT RACE – Classic Cars

First: The Bandit, Wyatt Kent and Bryce Pittman. Second: To Dye For, Heather Hall and Neena Hernandez. Third: Bacon Bros, Spencer Becker and Boston Milligan.

Push Race – Future Cars

First: Crash Test Dummies, Tyler Bogdanowicz and Tiden Burch. Second: G.T., Gavin Smith and Trinton Taddeo. Third: Rasta Racers, Cadence Haley and Anabella Torres.

Most Original/Creative Design

First: Rasta Racers, Cadence Haley and Anabella Torres. Second: Marvelous Mudders, Lindsay Gordon and Summer Moore. Third: The Chargers, Alezxander Robles and Cassidy Robles.

Most Team Spirit

First: Space Unicorns, Mae Bollenback and Macie Shaffer. Second: The Bandit, Wyatt Kent and Bryce Pittman. Third: Fireball, Hayden Fabulich and Michael Nichols.

Pathways Spirit

First: The Lightning Bolts, Logan Seyk and Lily Zelman. Second: Candy Crushers, Adrianna Mallumaci and Camryn Smith. Third: Griffyndor Girls, Lillian Arose and Ella Price.

Family and friends held signs and cheered the 48, fifth-grade students who participated in the school’s 9th derby.

Callie Sours held up a brightly colored sign easy for her brother Colton Sours to see as he and his teammate Kylie Watson coasted their car down the ramp and past the crowd.

In the spirit of the event there was music, popcorn and snow cones for viewers to enjoy from their curbside seats.

“We just finished the statewide tests and this event is always a nice way for the school to exhale and have a little fun,” event sponsor Matt Coleman said.
