An Ormond Beach woman was dragged on the hood of her boyfriend's car down West Granada Boulevard after he stole her cell phone.
At 1:15 a.m. May 2, an officer with the Ormond Beach Police Department was patrolling through The Trails subdivision when he heard a female screaming. After locating the woman on West Granada Boulevard, she told him that her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Anthony Lee, 25, had knocked on her door in an agitated state.
The victim said she partially opened the door, and Lee pushed his way into the house because he said that he was outside her window watching her "delete stuff off her phone."
According to the police report, Lee grabbed the victim's phone, left her house on Main Trail and got into his vehicle. The woman followed him and jumped on the hood of his car to keep him from leaving with her phone. Lee drove a total of .8 miles to Wells Fargo Bank, 100 W. Granada Blvd., with the female victim clinging onto the hood.
Once he arrived at the bank, he drove in circles in an attempt to dislodge the victim from the car. After failing to get her off, Lee stopped the vehicle, and the victim attempted to enter the vehicle to retrieve her cell phone. She told police that Lee dragged her out of the vehicle by her jacket and said he was going to kill her. He tried to swing at her, and the victim backed up. Lee then drove away on West Granada Boulevard.
His vehicle was located in the Walmart parking lot, where he is an employee. Police learned that Lee had left the property on his break to confront the victim.
Lee admitted to police that he was at the victim's house, but stated that she let him in and that it was before he came into work. He said there was never any altercation, and that he never forced his way in, but entered through her bedroom window.
He did admit to driving away from the house with the victim on the hood of his car. According to the report, he was unable to provide details, and that he did not have the victim's phone. Lee told the officers that he did not call the police when she was on his hood because the victim is "going through some stuff" and he didn't want to get her in trouble.
Lee stated that the victim is making up all these allegations because she is mad at him. The victim wasn't injured but did have a small rip in the back of her shorts that she was wearing at the time of the incident.
Lee was arrested on two felony charges — home invasion robbery and assault with intention to commit a felony — and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
