A 39-year-old Palm Coast woman was arrested July 14 in connection with the death of a dog.

Sheriff’s Office deputies and Flagler County Animal Control officers were first called out to the Princess Luise Lane, Palm Coast home of suspect Georgia Ann Rose on Feb. 18, 2016.

They’d been tipped off by the  Flagler Animal Hospital, which had called and “advised that there is a dog at this location in possible need of immediate medical attention or maybe possibly deceased,” according to a deputy’s report.

When the deputies and animal control officers arrived at the home, they were met by Rose.

She took them to her garage, which smelled strongly of ammonia, and showed them the dog, named Asher: It was laying dead in a small kennel covered with feces. There was no food or water in the kennel.

A second kennel in the garage contained another dog. The little water it had was dirty; “the only food it had was a small bowl of what appeared to be mixed fruit,” a deputy wrote in the report.

Rose said that she’d contacted the animal hospital because the dog was sick, but that she didn’t bring it in because she did not have transportation.

There was one car in the family, she said, and her brothers used it for work.

The brothers, Stenford and Kayon Rose, “both stated that they were not going to miss work for a dog,” the deputy wrote.

The Roses “allowed the dog to suffer a horrible death which could have been prevented,” the deputy wrote in a report.
