A 74-year-old Flagler Beach man has been charged with first-degree murder in the execution-style shooting death of his son, 31-year-old Lucas David Gore.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a shooting at 1002 S. Daytona Avenue in Flagler Beach, across from the Flagler Beach Community Church, at about 12:26 a.m. April 30.
Sheriff's Office deputies and officers from the Flagler Beach Police Department arrived at the house to find Lucas Gore unresponsive and slumped over a table. His father was found inside the house with a firearm, and officers secured him. Fire rescue staff checked Lucas Gore and determined that he was dead.
Lucas Gore's mother and Bobby Gore's wife, 57-year-old Bonnie Jean Gore, said she'd been sitting on the back porch with Lucas Gore, and the two were arguing. As they argued, she said, Bobby Gore walked out with a gun and shot Lucas Gore twice in the head, according to a Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit.
Matthew Gore, Lucas Gore's 33-year-old brother, said that Bobby Gore and Bonnie Gore had gone out to the Poor Walt's bar at about 9 p.m. He believed his brother Lucas had followed. Matthew Gore was awoken at about midnight by the argument between his mother and brother. He was leaving the house and was at the front of the home when he heard what he described as two loud "claps." He walked back inside and saw his brother slumped over the family's glass table.
Bobby Gore was arrested on a charge of first degree murder with a firearm and booked at the county jail at 10:22 a.m. He is being held without bond.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will be performing an autopsy on Lucas Gore. The State Attorney’s Office Homicide Investigations Unit and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Crime Scene Unit are also working on the case.
"This case is an absolute tragedy," Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney said in the news release. "As a department, our hearts go out to the Gore family. Our victim advocates are committed to assisting the Gore family during this most difficult of times, and please keep them in your thought and prayers."
