Voluisa County announces more closures

The County recently announced the following closures:

  • Daytona Beach International Airport will continue to monitor the weather and update the public. Travelers are encouraged to contact their airlines directly for specific flight details. If your flight is canceled due to weather, keep in mind that the Daytona Beach International Airport is not available as a shelter.
  • Bethune-Cookman University issued a mandatory evacuation order and suspended classes at noon. Students must evacuate the campus and residence halls by 6 p.m. Oct. 5. Officials anticipate residence halls reopening at noon, Oct. 9.
  • Daytona State College will close Wednesday evening and reopen Monday morning. Wednesday evening classes have been canceled.
  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will be closed Thursday through Saturday. Residence halls will remain open with staff onsite and supplies. All alumni and homecoming activities scheduled on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are canceled.   • UCF Daytona Beach will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • All courthouses in the Seventh Judicial Circuit will be closed Thursday and Friday. However, first appearance hearings will be conducted Thursday morning. Weather permitting, first appearances will resume Saturday and normal courthouse operations will resume Monday. During this emergency, all court deadlines will be extended and all scheduled court hearings will be rescheduled when court resumes. 
  • All offices and clinics of the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Volusia County’s public libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday. All library items with due dates between Oct. 6 and 9 will be due on Monday, Oct. 10.
