The second phase of the Halifax Humane Society's capital campaign is now underway. Workers broke ground on the new Travel, Grooming and Boarding Center earlier this month and are expected to be completed in four months.
In an effort to appeal to tourists and travelers, the center will feature a grooming kennel, boarding services, and a place for people to get pet-friendly travel information on hotels and parks. The organization hopes the fact the center's location — which is 2364 LPGA Blvd., right off I-95 — will also serve as a rest stop and get more people to visit the shelter.
Halifax Humane Society hopes to raise $2.6 million. So far $2,303,650 has been raised. Brian Kelley, Florida Georgia Line member and Ormond Beach native, donated $30,000. For more information visit hhsfuture.org.
