Program to connect employers, students for summer jobs

Ormond Beach Community Foundation has launched the Take This Job and Work It Program. This project in Ormond Beach and Central Florida matches businesses and nonprofit organizations with students for summer jobs or internships for six to eight weeks during the summer.

Libraries plan customer appreciation day

The Volusia County Public Library system is celebrating its patrons with Customer Appreciation Day ON April 13, during National Library Week.

Patrons and their families are invited to stop by any of the 13 branches to participate in activities and receive novelty items while supplies last, according to Pat Kuehn, community Information specialist for Volusia County. For more information call a local branch or visit volusialibrary.org. 

Museum seeks wedding couples

Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens is seeking photos of people who got married on the grounds for a special 70th museum anniversary celebration June 5. Submit photos by May 1 to [email protected] for use in a special digital slide show. Photos must be in a jpeg format with a 72 dpi. Call 676-3347.

Register for free VPK

Parents can now register to reserve a spot for their child in Volusia County Schools’ free summer Voluntary Prekindergarten program. 

Families should register at the student’s home-zoned school from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  In Ormond Beach, the site is Tomoka Elementary School.

A child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016 and have a summer 2016 Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties. Call 323-2400 or 736-5010 or visit elcfv.org.
