The following is a news release from the Flagler County communications office:

Firefighters worked throughout the wee hours Friday morning in Flagler Beach to contain a blaze that destroyed one house, injuring all five of its occupants including an infant before jumping to a second causing serious damage.

The home at 212 Ocean Palm Drive was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 2 a.m. and while the family of five was already out of the house all five suffered injuries.

Jessica Johnson, the mother, and Landon Ghomely, 11 months old, were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. James Ghomely and Elizabeth Johnson were treated and released at Florida Hospital Flagler, and Madison Johnson was taken to a different facility. The girls are 2 and 5 years old.

James Ghomely and Elizabeth Johnson have been treated and released from Florida Hospital Flagler, spokeswoman Lindsay Rew said. Madison was transported to a different facility, but that information is not available at this time.

The second house was heavily damaged; no one was injured.

Flagler Beach Engine 11 was first dispatched at 2:09 a.m. Flagler County sent two engines and three rescue crews. Two engines from Volusia County and one from Palm Coast were also dispatched to the fire.

“The house was a stilt house and it went up like a matchstick,” Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said.

Bruce Campbell, Flagler Beach City Manager, said city crews turned off water and are posting barriers for safety reasons. Florida Power and Light arrived at the scene immediately to turn off electricity and later returned power to the area.

The State Fire Marshal is at the scene. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Information about the identities of those injured and their current conditions was not immediately available.

This story has been updated to correct the address of the origin of the fire. It is 212 Ocean Palm Drive, and not 208 Ocean Palm Drive, as originally stated.
