Over 150 local volunteers were honored at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center volunteer appreciation luncheon April 9.

Held at the Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach, the event included the Shirley Sliwa Awards presented to three teenage volunteers for their outstanding service: Sabrina Goretti from Flagler-Palm Coast High School and Karen Worman and Jack Zimbelman from Seabreeze High School.

Laverne Johnson was awarded the Honorary Life Membership Award for her years of service from 1981 to 2013. Johnson has accumulated more than 13,000 hours of service, starting at Ormond Memorial Hospital and continuing at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center until last year.
