Elks Lodge presents scholarship awards, scholarship chairman takes attorney's oath

The Ormond Beach Elks Lodge recently presented scholarships to two Ormond Beach graduates.

Two local graduates recently accepted scholarship awards from the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge 2193.

Kristen Curtis, daughter of Past Exalted Ruler Jackie Curtis, received $1,125 to help her study baking and pastry at Daytona State College. Carson Bell was named the 2014 Most Valuable Student Scholar by the Elks National Foundation and will receive $4,000 to help her attend the University of Florida. Both girls graduated from Seabreeze High School.

Lodge Scholarship Chairman Erika Barger recently took an oath of attorney at the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Daytona Beach. Barger’s century-old history with the Elks Lodge has encouraged her to continuously be involved with the group. The Ormond Beach resident and Seabreeze High School alumnus served as Esteemed Loyal Knight, Esteemed Leading Knight, is the Chairman of the Indoctrination Committee and serves as a member of the House Committee.
