Sliced

4:21 p.m. First block of Folson Lane. Burglary.
A woman woke up May 26, walked out to her lanai, and saw that her TV was gone.

There was a slice in the screen door next to the handle.

The woman called the Sheriff’s Office, and a deputy wrote in his report that the TV was a black 32" Insignia, valued at about $300.

The deputy photographed the damage to the screen and gave the woman a case card, but couldn’t enter the TV into a crime database as stolen property because the woman didn’t have its serial number.

Diced

5:56 p.m. 200 block of Ocean Crest Drive.
A man staying at his brother-in-law’s condo went outside one day to check on the brother-in-law’s red Porsche Carrera convertible, and found an 8-inch slice in the convertible’s top.

Total estimated repair cost: $2,500.

The man called the condo’s security guard, who called the Sheriff’s Office, which called the car’s owner.

The man said he didn’t know of anyone who would vandalize his car.

The doors were locked and nothing was stolen.

The security guard said he would check for surveillance video and turn it over to the Sheriff’s Office.

What ARE you doing in there??

7:58 p.m. First block of Cypress Edge Drive.
A deputy searching for a teenage girl who’d shoplifted from a local big-box store knew he’d hit pay dirt when he entered a local restaurant to check for the young thief, and restaurant staff said someone was hiding in one of the restroom stalls by standing on the toilet.

Staff opened up the door and the deputy shouted inside, asking anyone inside to identify themselves and leave the restroom.

He repeated the command several times.

There was no answer, but he could see a shadow of a person in one of the stalls.

The feet weren’t visible.

The deputy drew his TASER and stepped onto the seat of the toilet next to the one with the shadow.

He looked over the partition.

The young woman was crouched on the seat.

The deputy told her to open the stall door, and she did.

He handcuffed her and issued a civil citation.

A second deputy found two cases of ear buds — the stolen items — in the toilet tank.
