After searching for about an hour, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended two Palm Coast teenagers around 1 p.m. Monday who had stolen a car sometime after 11 p.m. Sunday and then tried to break into an occupied home on Riverina Drive, in Palm Coast, around 11 a.m. Monday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

The 17-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle and his passenger, Danquelle Nash, 18, were taken into custody following a brief motor vehicle pursuit and foot chase.

A Sheriff’s Office deputy was parked in front of the home on Riverina Drive completing his report on the attempted burglary Monday when he observed a White 2006 X5 BMW SUV occupied by two subjects drive past the home. The vehicle was similar to the one the homeowner reported seeing outside her home moments before the attempted burglary. It was also similar to a local BOLO regarding a vehicle reported stolen from a home on Arrowhead Drive, in Palm Coast.

In the Arrowhead Drive incident, the owner reported that sometime after 11 p.m. Sunday, someone broke into a vehicle that had been parked in his driveway and stole a remote that was used to enter the garage where the BMW was parked. The home at the time of the burglary was occupied.

The deputy, thinking it may have been the same vehicle, pulled out to follow the vehicle at which time the vehicle began to speed up in an attempt to flee the deputy. Deputies responding to the area observed the vehicle as it drove into the area of Wood Aspen Lane, off U.S.1. Deputies established a perimeter, called in Sheriff’s Office K-9 units and asked for assistance from Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Air One helicopter.

A deputy patrolling in the area located the unoccupied stolen vehicle parked on Wood Amber Lane. Deputies later observed the two subjects near a wooded area as the subjects were attempting to return to the area where they had left the stolen vehicle. The two subjects were taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

The juvenile is charged with burglary of a conveyance, burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft, attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling, fleeing and eluding, and resisting arrest without violence.

The juvenile was transported to the Division of Youth Services in Daytona Beach.

Nash is charged with burglary of a conveyance, burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling, and resisting arrest without violence. Nash was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility, where he is being held on $17,500 bond.
