OUR TOWN: Ormond teen recovering from breast cancer treatment

Emily Carnes is excited to see her chemotherapy working.

Things are turning around for Ormond Beach teen and Seabreeze High School student Emily Carnes.

Diagnosed earlier this year with breast cancer, Carnes learned from a recent doctors visit that her disease is slowing down thanks to three rounds of chemo. She still has five more rounds to go and is facing them with a smile on her face.

Team Emily, the group fundraising to help pay for the teen’s medical bills, released some upcoming events for Emily.

Local restaurants such as Alfies, Mango Sun, Houligans, The Beach Bucket and Maria Bonita will participate in Dine to Donate April 29.10 percent of their proceeds from daily sales will go towards Team Emily.

The Seabreeze High School Battle of the Bands May 1 where some of the proceeds will be donated to Emily Carnes.
