April 9

You’ve floored me.

7:22 a.m. First block of Eastwood Drive. Suspicious vehicle.
A man was at home minding his own business when he noticed a strange car parked in his driveway.

Two men — one appeared to be in his sixties, the other in his forties — sat inside, according to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office report.

The resident approached the older one — the driver — who said, “Get the (profanity) out of here.”

The resident responded by telling the driver to get off his property.

The driver started to step out of the car, but the passenger held him back.

The car began to back up, almost striking the resident.

"What, are you trying to run me over?!” he yelled.

“Yeah, like a piece of gum in the road,” the driver replied.

The car sped away, southbound on Eastwood, according to the report.

The resident thought about the incident for an hour or so before deciding to report it to the Sheriff’s Office.

He told deputies he wasn’t interested in pursuing charges, but would like the incident documented, according to the report.

Little old lady bests burglar

6:20 p.m. 4000 block of John Anderson Highway. Attempted burglary.
An 88-year-old woman was watching TV in her living room when she heard a noise on her back porch.

It sounded like someone was trying to break in through the porch windows.

She she got up to see what the noise was, according to a Sheriff’s Office report, when the window shattered.

She saw a middle-aged man. He was shirtless, and wore jeans and a ponytail.

She yelled at him.

He took off, running west on Creek Bluff Run.

She called the Sheriff’s Office, and told deputies she estimated the damage at $400.

Deputies searched the area but didn’t find the shirtless window-smasher.

They photographed the damage and put an extra watch on the woman’s house.

A/C theft isn't cool

8:18 a.m. First block of Rocking Horse Drive. Larceny.
A man called the Sheriff’s Office when he realized a brand new air conditioning unit — a Carrier Weather Maker 4 Ton, which he’d left sitting in his fenced backyard on top of a wheelbarrow the day before — was missing.

The man told deputies he'd hoped to sell the air conditioning unit for $4,000, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

He wasn’t sure exactly when the theft happened, but thought it must have been around 4-9:30 p.m. April 9.

Deputies spoke to neighbors, but they hadn’t seen anything strange in the area, according to the report.
