Flagler Beach is a surfing mecca that draws hundreds to the beach all year long, but only a small part of the population knows just how important Flagler Beach is to the surfing world. Publisher and gallery owner Frank Gromling wants to change that because he believes surfing is a healthy lifestyle, aids in healing those with health challenges, and builds confidence in young people.

On Friday, July 5th, from 5:30–8:30 pm, his Ocean Books & Art will be transformed into Surf City USA through colorful art and surf music. On display will be the art of artists Ed Siarkowicz, Bob Carlsen, Krystyna Madejczyk, and Joe Campanellie. Special guest artist, surf photographer A.J. Neste, has agreed to offer for sale two of his classic surfing photographs.

A raffle will be held for several prizes, including items local businesses and a special prize from Body Glove, the American family-owned and operated surfing and diving company celebrating its 60th year in business.

All proceeds from the raffle, plus 5% of all art and book sales during the reception and throughout July, will be donated to Flagler Surf Club to help its family-oriented programs.

“We’re excited about teaming up with Ocean Books & Art in this fun event and we appreciate that it is lending a helping hand for our many worthwhile projects for surfers of all ages,” said Ccub founder Joe Eddy.

The event at 200 S. Oceanshore Blvd., Flagler Beach, across from the Flagler Beach Pier, is also right around the corner from Flagler Beach’s “First Friday – Music in the Park,” which blends music, food and entertainment for residents and visitors each month.
