The local jobless rate hit 10.4% in June, according to data released Friday by the Center of Business Excellence.
The month before, unemployment in Flagler County was at 10.3%, and it was at 9.6% in May. In July 2012, it was at 12%.
The number is the second-highest in the state, after Hendry County, whose unemployment rate is 15.5%. Flagler County and St. Lucie County have the same unemployment rate; they are tied for second place.
Statewide unemployment is at 7.1%. Nationwide, the jobless rate is 7.4%.
All but two of the 22 metro areas in Florida have experienced over-the-year-job gains since 2013 in the nonagricultural section. Palm Coast is one of the two that did not experience growth, but instead lost 300 jobs, a 1.5% decrease.
The other metro area that experienced job loss was the Panama City-Lynn Haven-Panama City Beach metro area, which lost 2,100 jobs, a 2.8% decrease.
