The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office beefed up its patrol at and around Flagler Palm Coast High School in response to yesterday’s news of a potential gang-related incident, which was rumored to occur Friday.
The rumors were in connection with the shooting that took place Sunday night, at Ralph Carter Park.
According to Katrina Townsend, director of student services, there are 875 students absent from Flagler Palm Coast High School.
Early Friday morning, there were K-9 units, the Crime Suppression Team and additional Sheriff’s Office deputies walking the FPC campus, according to Capt. Lynne Catoggio.
As of 11 a.m., “there was no activity,” Catoggio said.
“We have been alerted through some social media outlets and our community contacts that there may be some attempt at retaliation for the Sunday incident at Ralph Carter Park,” Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a Thursday statement. “As a proactive and precautionary measure, additional deputies will be assigned to FPC to ensure campus safety.”
