The Women’s Initiative of Flagler County teamed up with Publix, Eagles Nest Storage, Intracoastal Bank and Palm Harbor Golf Club in May, for the 2012 Spring Chicks with Cans Food Drive.

During two weekends in May, more than 50 volunteers from Chicks with Cans set up donation stations in front of Flagler Publix stores seeking nonperishable food items for Flagler County food pantries.

On Saturday, May 19, Chicks with Cans delivered more than 5,500 pounds of food to the Flagler Resource Center, Grace Community Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul and the Family Life Center.

“It is so exciting and inspiring to be associated with such an amazing group of women who take action, step up, get involved and make a true difference in our community. I also am very grateful for the overwhelming generosity of our community members in their giving,” said Board Chairwoman Donna Murray, of Murray & Murray Insurance.
