The Creole turkey soup was flowing, and the poker chips were stocked at the ninth-annual Mardi Gras and Casino Night, hosted by the Flagler County Education Foundation.

The event, which took place Tuesday, Feb. 21, drew 210 people from the community and raised a net proceed of $11,000.

While attendance was up this year, Deborah Williams, executive director, said that sponsorships were down, causing a decline in proceeds.

Money raised will go directly to programs and scholarships including Packs-4-Backs, the S.T.U.F.F. BUS, Dell Trayer Teacher Grants and Take Stock in Children scholarships.
