The Flagler County Art League will feature poetry and spoken word in addition to traditional visual art forms in its February Second Saturday show, “Flagler County in Views, Scenes and Words.”

“The focus (of the show) is all things Flagler — the artists’ interpretation of something that really strikes them, moves them or is important to them about the place they live,” said Joyce Gatonska, vice president of marketing for the art league.

The decision to include poetry was inspired by art league member Stephanie Salkin, who is both a photographer and a poet.

This is the first time the art league has included written and spoken word with one of its events. Finalists from the competition will read during the opening reception 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

Poetry entries will be judged by Mary-Ann Westbrook, president of Tomoka Poets, and Dr. David B. Axelrod, an award-winning poet.

The show will run through March 6, at the gallery, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite 207C.
