Family Promise of Flagler County will celebrate its ribbon cutting and pastoral blessing at its Day Center 4-5 p.m. Friday, April 20.

Family Promise is a nonprofit corporation that will provide temporary shelter, meals, hospitality and case management for children and families experiencing homelessness. They do this through the participation of local congregations, dedicated staff and hundreds of volunteers. Family Promise is a national organization with 171 affiliates in 42 states. There are seven operating affiliates in Florida and we are one of three developing affiliates.

The Day Center is located adjacent to Flagler Beach United Methodist Church, 1500 S. Daytona Ave., Flagler Beach.

The community is invited to meet the many volunteers from the host and support congregations, Executive Director Darla Otey, and the Board of Directors of Family Promise Flagler.

Light refreshments will be served. Following the ribbon cutting, the Founding Friends of Family Promise Flagler will celebrate the opening with a dinner in the Fellowship Hall of the Flagler Beach United Methodist Church.

The center plans to host its first families beginning the week of May 6, at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. The guest families will be referred to Family Promise by local social service agencies and the Flagler County Schools.
