Women's club awards scholarships

The American Association of University Women gave out five $1,000 scholarships May 14, at Blue at Topaz.

The following were thisyear’s recipients: Matanzas High School senior Kelly Flanagan, who will attend Stetson University to study veterinary medicine; MHS senior Gianna Mastrostefano, who will attend the University of Rhode Island to study optometry; and University of Central Florida student Olesya Azasrov, a mother of a young daughter, who has Russian certification in nursing and is working for certification in the U.S.

Also receiving scholarships but unable to attend the event were Kerri Rassi and Deetra Ware.

All scholarships were awarded in memory of Dorothy O. Sheehan.
