Palm Coast Ford has been busy making renovations to a bus, which was donated to Grace Community Food Bank, by the Flagler County Commission last year.

The improved bus was shown off Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the dealership.

“We have a lot of people in need in Flagler County and we need to support them,” said Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates President Doug Baxter. “Without everybody’s support, we wouldn’t have this bus ready to go on the road today.”

Alterations made by the service team at Palm Coast Ford include, all new tires, two new batteries, cleaned and adjusted breaks, a full detail and decals for the sides of the bus.

The bus is used to pick up food for distribution to people in need, specifically those who cannot travel to the food pantry.

“There’s a lot of people that don’t have enough money to put gas in their cars to come see (the Rev. Charles Silano) at the food pantry,” Baxter said. “This is going to be a great asset to our community.”

Don York, general manager of Palm Coast Ford looks at the renovation as something small he can do for his community. York said the dealership plans to hold food drives to help ensure that the bus stays full.

“This is going to send a message to the community that their community cares,” Silano said.
