Two Palm Coast firefighters, who have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant, were honored Dec. 6, in a badge-pinning ceremony.

Lt. Evan Evans and Lt. Kyle Berryhill were pinned by Palm Coast Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Forte Tuesday night.

Since Palm Coast’s Fire Department began 11 years ago, it has become tradition to bring new firefighters and rank promotions before the Mayor and City Council.

Forte said the examination process to move up the ranks to lieutenant might be the most difficult advancement test a firefighter faces throughout his entire career.

“The individuals here before you are exemplary of the qualities needed to move up in the ranks,” Forte said. “We hope that these officers do wear their badges proudly, as we are expecting great things from them.”
