The Flagler Beach pier overflowed with people Saturday, Nov. 6, during the Red Bull Night Riders Competition — an event never before attempted on the East Coast.

The jet ski-powered, aerial surf extravaganza was the grand finale to day one of the 11th-annual Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Contest.

This year’s event raised more than $40,000 for scholarships and food bank donations, the biggest fund raising event to date.

“It’s hasn’t been us, it is all you and your different talents,” Barbara Tant said to attendees before the awards ceremony. “You have made it what it is today.”

“We’re just down-home Flagler Beach,” she said. “And we love it that way.”

First-place winners: Haley Watson, Open Women’s; Ryan Huckabee, Tadpole; Cierra Cunningham, Girl’s/Jr. Women; Bob Lindsley, Grandmasters; Corey Howell, Boys; Tommy Coleman, Menehune; Brandon Hoffman, Open Men’s; Stephen Nipple, Master’s; Chelsea Gresham, Women’s Longboard; Jerry Schaefer, Jr. Men; Daniel Glenn, Men’s Longboard; Jamie Battinger, Women’s Pro; Dan Worley, Bodyboard Pro; Dustin Richardson, Jr. Men’s Pro; Jesse Heilman, Men’s Pro; Eric Geiselman, Night Riders
